Capturing the subject, live on site

Paula Ensign spent much of her artistic career painting in oil, and her passion was to paint “En Plein Air”, or live on the site. With a small easel she could carry with her, she’d set up a place to work wherever she found a scene that inspired her. Paula had a strong connection to nature, and painting in the outdoors was a coming together of two of her passions—which can be felt in the tone and texture of her work.
